E.P. Credit
Another day of what seems like progress on some fronts. The drama yesterday unfolded with the actress (her lawyer actually) in question finally agreeing to issue us a Letter of Intent by Tuesday. This is a huge step for the project. Now the financier of the picture has agreed to make a formal offer to her as well (below or above her “quote” I’m not sure yet) but everybody seems to be on the same page. This is big for the film and the project although for us this is an indirect Executive Producer deal which we are fine with. We’ll try to get a credit, a fee and a participation in the film, but for now that depends on the actual financial structure of the film and how much we are actually “producing” it. You see, we are bringing a participation with a little production insight but also a tie-in to a big foreign sales company. Our deal could still go in many ways but our position is definitely getting stronger.
Given our latest developments with our Comedy, where we just fired our director -before we actually hired him, I love how that works- and where we are seeking a restructuring of our deals with our partners, it looks like the above mentioned thriller might be our first project to get out of the factory.
Our partner on the period project based on the historic book we optioned has told us that the big European TV company interested in the project wants to see our option agreement and contracts before we even sit down with them. We wouldn’t normally do that, but we are soo interested in that deal, that right now I would give them my Birth Certificate if they were to ask for it. The problem is not who we are trying to the deal with -BIG Euro TV and Media company, but the fact that the intermediary we have guiding us there still doesn’t give me full confidence.
Tonight I will have a scotch and toast to that person (please!!) not being a shyster.
Slainte.
