Deadpan Hollywood

A soggy, entertaining and dirt-covered journal from the trenches of independent film production in Hollywood. Me, well, you might've seen my name on screen in some movies. I'm not improvised. This is the real, above-the-line reality.

Submission.

Almost there. Almost there.

Anybody say Per Diems? On a 16 week shoot? On what should be a small budget?

Delivering this budget proves to be a little bit nerve-racking. I SHOULD be able to make this movie for 40% less than what I’m delivering in the budget. But the main issue is TIME. I have to cover my ass. Also the ass of anybody else involved. It’s also a tricky subject matter.

Verité filmmaking sure is it’s own type of animal. A lot of it is a leap of faith. There are 2 examples for this (thrilling) type of filmmaking that I would love to share.

So we push on, delivering the budget to our “studio”, ready to see what they throw back at us. It’s a very important project for us.
